DAD
Eric and his dad did all the usual father/son activities, but their annual three day fishing trip was the ultimate in quality time together. Raising children to become good adults is a team effort, but in a few important ways, a boy learns how to be a man from his father.

BEING ERIC SEIDMAN'S FATHER

From the day Eric was born, I wanted him to grow up to be a better man than I was.

I tried to show him how he could be gentle without compromising his strength.

I wanted him to know that everyone was worthy of respect, so I tried to be sure that he saw me treat everyone with dignity... Everyone deserves a please and a thank you.
I wanted Eric to have a strong work ethic while knowing that his family was the most important part of his life, so I made sure that he knew that I took my work seriously. But I only accepted positions that enabled me to be home for dinner most nights, and allowed for me to very involved in all his after school activities.

I hoped Eric would embrace my positive attributes, but I also wanted him to be strong in ways that I wasn't. I wanted him to have courage that I did not possess, so I urged him to go beyond his comfort zone. I'm cautious in social situations, but I encouraged him to see everyone as a potential friend, until they proved otherwise.

When it came to raising my son, I gave it everything I had. Eric rewarded me by exceeded my hopes and expectations in so many ways. As I've said so many times, he really was a better man than I.

I'll always be proud to say that I'm Eric Seidman's dad.
